Composite Decking

Composite decking is made from recycled wood and plastic, so it gives you the look of timber without the yearly staining, sanding or splinters. It resists fading, rot and slips, and a quick wash keeps it looking new. We build it on the same solid, ventilated frame we use for timber, so the structure lasts as long as the boards.

  • A solid, ventilated sub-frame with proper footings
  • Composite boards in your chosen colour and finish
  • Matching fascia, trims and step treads
  • Hidden fixings for a clean surface
  • Optional integrated lighting

Our process

Our process, step by step

How your project runs, from the first visit to the finished job.

  1. 1

    Design and quote

We agree the board, colour and layout and price it in writing.

  2. 2

    Build the frame

Footings go in and a ventilated sub-frame is set out to the board spans.

  3. 3

    Lay the boards

Boards are fixed with concealed clips so no screw heads show.

  4. 4

    Trim and finish

Fascia, steps and lighting finish the edges off.

FAQs

Composite Decking questions

Does composite decking fade?

Good boards hold their colour for years. Expect the tone to settle slightly over the first season, then very little change after that. We fit ranges that carry a proper warranty rather than the cheapest boards on the market, and a decent composite deck should give you 20 years or more.

How do I clean composite decking?

Warm soapy water and a soft brush, a couple of times a year. No oiling, no sanding, no annual treatment.

Is composite worth the extra cost?

If you would rather not spend a weekend every spring sanding and staining, yes. You pay more at the start and buy back the maintenance.

Is composite decking slippery, and does it get hot?

Most boards are textured or grooved for grip, and they stay cleaner than timber so algae is less of a problem. Like any dark surface they warm up in full sun, and boards expand a little in heat, so we leave the gaps the manufacturer specifies. A lighter colour helps on both counts.
